HEALTHY DARK CHOCOLATE AND WHITE CHOCOLATE BARK

Hello food lovers!

Today I want to share an amazing healthy chocolate bar option for you, your family and kids!

It’s very easy and quick to make, and you only need 2 or 3 ingredients. Hard to believe? Keep reading!

healthy chocolate bark

There are two ways of making your own healthy chocolate bar and it comes down to the ingredients you want to use or the ones you have home.

The first option would be using unsweetened cacao powder 100% with coconut oil and sweetener of choice. I will post this recipe soon!

The second option is the one on this healthy recipe and it calls for dark chocolate chunks or chips mixed with sweetener of choice but it depends on how dark the chocolate is (90 or 100% would be better). The main difference between the two options is that the second one has the cacao butter on the chocolate chunks or chips whereas the first one you add it yourself (you can also substitute with coconut oil).

Bottom line is, making your own healthy chocolate this way is not only healthier and more enjoyable but also a lot cheaper than buying it out at your grocery store of choice.

DIABETIC DIET TIP

As a diabetic, how many times have you heard you cannot eat chocolate? That chocolate cannot be considered a food for diabetics? Well, the good news are you indeed can! And the darker the chocolate, the better!

The way I created this recipe for a healthy and homemade dark chocolate option won’t spike your sugar levels like the regular chocolate options do. However, be careful if you add white chocolate or any other ingredient that elevates the sugar content.

Just as with everything, moderation is key and you get to enjoy every bit of it!

INGREDIENTS

▪️1 cup & 1 tablespoon or 200gr of dark chocolate chunks (80-100%)
▪️Optional: 1 tablespoon of coconut sugar (if the chocolate chunks you use are 90% or higher) OR 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips, melted.

STEPS

▫️Add parchment paper to a square or rectangle mold. I used a 8 inch/20cm square mold.
▫️Melt the dark chocolate chunks and if you want as an option, add the coconut sugar and mix until fully incorporated.
▫️Spread it on top of the parchment paper. Also as an option, add the melted white chocolate and make swirls. You can also add any chopped nuts on top!
▫️Keep in the fridge for at least 1 hour and once completely firm, break into pieces.

* Store the chocolate bark in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month (if it makes it…)
