HALLOWEEN SCARY PRETZELS
I literally love how cute these scary pretzels are!!!
Halloween is around the corner, and I thought it would be a good idea to give you the option to have some healthier snacks rather than having only the regular Halloween candy!
So I made three different types. The “screams” in dark and white chocolate. The “zombies” in matcha-white chocolate and the “mummies” in white chocolate.
I wanted to make them gluten free, but the gluten free pretzels that I found at the grocery store had worse ingredients than the regular organic ones which had only 3 ingredients (it happens a lot with gluten free products, that’s why I always rather make my own gluten free foods!). So since I don’t have any gluten intolerance, I chose the regular organic pretzels, but feel free to choose whichever you prefer.
Look at the pictures and tell me they’re not cute and funny looking?? Adorable!!
This healthier recipe version of Halloween scary pretzels is a great activity and funny thing to do yourself, with your kids or friends!
DIABETIC DIET TIP
Well, there’s not much to say in favor of these as a food for diabetics..since these have carbohydrates and chocolate. However, if you are diabetic and you are going to indulge on sweets, it will be much better to eat these ones than any other!!
Why? Because it is homemade, it is made with real dark and white chocolate and coconut oil. Also, the eyes are made with chocolate as well, not like the eyeballs candy I have seen everywhere made with dextrose, corn syrup, artificial coloring, … (it horrifies me!). So for all diabetics out there, make sure to have your blood sugar levels stable before eating these Halloween scary pretzels.
I am so excited for you guys to try it out! Please let us know what you think so we can keep improving our healthy and nourishing recipes for you all!
INGREDIENTS
Pretzels: the amount you want. I used a bag of 8oz/225gr
1 cup or 150gr of dark chocolate chips
1 cup or 150gr of white chocolate chips
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of green tea matcha powder (optional)
STEPS
Melt the dark chocolate with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and cover 1/2 of the pretzels amount. Place them on a rack or tray with parchment paper (see pictures below)
Once covered, fill with more chocolate the two spots where you will place the “eyes”.
Add white chocolate chips upside down on the eyes space.
With a thin stick (I used a chopstick) draw the spot for the eyes.
Place the tray in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Store them in the fridge in an airtight container.
Repeat the process for the white chocolate ones. For the zombies I mixed some of the white chocolate chips with the Matcha powder and for the mummies I just drizzled white chocolate on top to resemble the cloth that covers them.

INGREDIENTES
